If you’ve received a scar from an auto accident (or any injury or surgery), it can be an immensely stressful and confusing time. Whether we like it or not, when we know we have a scar, we can continually over-focus on it. This can quickly and easily begin to affect our confidence and self-esteem. So, when we suffer from hyperpigmentation on the scar after an injury or surgery, it may benefit us to get treatment for it.

We spoke with Dr. David Shamouelian, MD of Allure Aesthetic Surgery of Beverly Hills about treating patients with hyper-pigmenting scars. Follow along with his Quick Tip Video below and read on for more:

Dr. Shamouelian explains that, as mentioned above, hyper-pigmenting scars can create a very stressful time in a patient’s life. In order to decrease the effects of pigmentation on a scar, Dr. Shamouelian suggests that a patient is treated with a laser. In his experiences, this type of procedure produces excellent results, has no downtime, is not typically done with anesthesia, so a patient can go home within several minutes after the procedure. Treating the hyperpigmentation of a scar can help to reduce its visibility and, in turn, help you feel more confident and secure.

So, if you’ve been injured in an auto accident and have been left with a scar, reach out to Dr. Shamouelian of Allure Aesthetic Surgery of Beverly Hills or any of our plastic surgeons who work on a lien basis for an evaluation.
