The more we work at our desks and stare at our computers, the more we begin to slump forward. As we repeat the same movements throughout the day, if we aren\u2019t focused on keeping our back straight and our shoulders low and back, we will easily create bad habits that can have long-lasting effects on our health. After a few months of these behaviors, we can find ourselves permanently slumped over with our shoulders and heads forward and, if left untreated, it can lead to stiffness and many future health issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thankfully, we spoke with <a href=\"https:\/\/doctorsonliens.com\/locations\/694-Glendora-Hope-Chiropractic-Injury-and-Wellness-Center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr. Monica Hanna<\/a> from Hope Chiropractic, our <a href=\"https:\/\/doctorsonliens.com\/locations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">doctor who works on a lien<\/a> basis in Glendora, about what we can do to counteract the bad posture we are accidentally giving ourselves from our time in front of the computer. For instance, if you <a href=\"http:\/\/docliens.com\/articles\/dr-bradley-hopper-dc-shows-us-a-simple-stretch-to-help-with-sciatic-pain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">are stretching<\/a> your right arm, step out with your left leg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, lean into the stretch by leaning forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do this with both sides and repeat a couple of times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Stretch 2- Seated Stretch<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This seated stretch will help with your shoulder range of motion. You can do this sitting anywhere. You don\u2019t even have to get up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, reach straight up high with your arms. Then, bring your arms back down after stretching up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, do the same by reaching out straight in front of you. Then, bring your arms back in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, reach straight out to your sides. Then bring your arms in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By repeating these movements roughly 10-15 times, you will <a href=\"http:\/\/docliens.com\/articles\/dr-adam-murie-of-max-health-discusses-stretching\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">begin to stretch<\/a> your shoulder and slowly increase its range of motion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Additional Tips<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When stretching, be sure to never push yourself if you feel <a href=\"http:\/\/docliens.com\/articles\/dr-bradley-hopper-dc-shows-us-a-simple-stretch-to-help-with-sciatic-pain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">any pain<\/a>. And if you do feel pain, be sure to speak with a doctor right away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, in the end, it\u2019s ideal to prevent this posture altogether by avoiding what\u2019s causing it. Instead of slumping at the computer, try to remember to keep you back straight, your shoulders rolled back and down, and your head held high as you type and work.
