Dr. Allen Massihi explained that many times when you are rear ended in an accident, your foot can swell up and cramp. This generally happens as you slam on your brakes in response or push your feet forward after being hit. What should you do if you have foot cramps and swelling in your feet after being rear ended? Dr. Massihi suggests that first, after you make it home, you ice your foot to reduce the swelling. Think about putting your feet in a nice ice bath or holding an ice pad up to the areas experiencing swelling as soon as you can after you make it home. So, if your client is experiencing this, be sure to relay that information.

If your client is still feeling sore afterwards, he suggests using asper cream or a gel to help relieve some of the pain and swelling. Dr. Massihi suggests to try this for a day or two, but if the pain persists, be sure to have them reach out to their doctor who works on a lien basis sooner rather than later to avoid the injury worsening or not healing appropriately.

He suggests if your client hurt their foot, specifically, they can first speak with their chiropractor or pain management doctor to see if they recommend seeing a foot specialist. Or if they have a foot specialist in their area, perhaps they can reach out to them to get their expert opinion. Be sure to tell them to reach out to Dr. Massihi if they are in the Glendale area or inquire with any of our doctors who work on a lien basis today!
