We talk a lot on the Doctors on Liens blog about getting better posture through proper attention, exercises, and care, but we’ve rarely discussed how getting this better posture can actually help you breathe easier, have more energy, and even potentially help you to look younger. We spoke with Dr. Devin Luzod of Spinal Care of Nevada in Summerlin, Las Vegas about this topic is his most recent quick tip.

First thing’s first, what is the best way to sit while you’re at your desk chair? Dr. Luzod explains that, while sitting at your computer, you should have your back straight with your shoulders back, your rear end pushed to the very back of your chair, and your computer monitor raised to your head level, specifically at the dead center of your eyes. He says this position will give you the best posture, overall, and keep you from having a back hunch or finding yourself hunched over later in life.
Dr. Luzod goes on to explain that by bringing your shoulders back and your chest out, you are getting more oxygen into your system and therefore, gaining more energy overall, which can help to put a pep into your step and it could even help you look younger.
So, as you can see, there are many benefits to good posture. And while it may be harder to train yourself to keep your shoulders back in the beginning, the more you set it as a habit, the easier it is to do each day, and it can only improve the quality of your life along with it.
Other times, your posture can be suffering due to an accident, and if that’s the case for you, be sure to reach out to Dr. Devin Luzod in Summerlin, Las Vegas, Nevada, or any of our doctors who work on a lien basis to ensure you get the proper care and get your posture back in alignment.
