Have you ever heard of your Sacroiliac Joints? We spoke with Dr. Andrew M. Cash, MD of the Desert Institute of Spine Care, our orthopedic surgeon who works on a lien basis in Las Vegas, Nevada, about cases he regularly experiences in his Quick Tip Video of the week.

Dr. Cash explains that many people come in having experienced a mysterious pain in their lower back, generally right below the belt line. He says that this regularly turns out to be pain from the Sacroiliac Joints (or SI Joints). The Sacroiliac Joint connects the pelvis to the spine on both sides of your body, and it is a regular cause of pain for many people, one that many doctors either miss or do not diagnose quickly. Sometimes, this pain can even occur after a surgical procedure.
So, if you’ve been injured in an accident, have been experiencing lower back pain after a surgical procedure, or think you could be experiencing pain in your sacroiliac joints, Dr. Cash encourages you to come in, as his team will assess you, do an injection to ensure this is the area that the pain is coming from, and if it is, put pins in and utilize x-ray guidance to solve your problem. The end goal is to have you feeling better quickly if this is the source of your pain.
