According to Dr. Lloyd, if you’ve been working at your desk and your shoulders start to ache in the area between the shoulder blades (which, let’s face it, most of us are dealing with this now-a-days with so many jobs becoming remote), then a study conducted back in the 1950s may just hold the answers to your pain relief.
What do I mean? Well, back in the 1950s, researchers conducted a study where they took medical students with no pain and injected them in the neck with a salt solution to create pain to understand more about how we feel pain. In other words, they measured the referral patterns the students had because of the neck injections.
When they injected the solution in the area of the lower neck, there was a lot of referred pain between the shoulder blades and even down the arm to the fingers. This teaches us that if you’ve ever had pain in between the shoulder blades and you want to get it fixed, you should make sure your doctor looks at the lower part of your neck first.
If you are feeling any sort of neck, shoulder, or back pain, especially if you’ve recently been injured in an accident, you should be sure to speak with a medical professional who works on a lien basis about the best course of action for you.
