If you’ve been injured in an accident or if you regularly suffer from back pain and are looking to strengthen your core muscles to reduce future pain, then we have a quick tip for you. We spoke with Meeta Hoffman, our physical therapist who works on a lien at Rams Wellness Center in Orange and Long Beach, who gave us a quick tip on how to strengthen your core muscles.
You can read on below or follow along with Dr. Hoffman’s quick tip video here:
As mentioned above, if you’ve been suffering from back pain, strengthening your core muscles may be the solution to help ease your pain. In order to do this, Dr. Hoffman suggests ‘bridging’ which is a popular back stretch.
To do this, start out lying flat on your back with your feet firmly planted on the ground. (See the example in the quick tip video above.)
Use your feet to gently lift your lower back up off the ground / mat while squeezing your butt muscles and tightening your stomach muscles.
Be sure to keep your head down and hold this for 5 seconds.
Do this about 10 times a day to continue to strengthen your core.
Why should you strengthen your core muscles? Strengthening your core muscles helps you to maintain your balance, prevent unwanted injuries, and reduce your risk of back pain. And if you’ve been injured in an accident, continuing to strengthen your core can help ease the pain you may be feeling in your back. If you’re feeling any pain, be sure to contact Meeta Hoffman or any of our specialists who work on a lien basis today.
