Many times, when we begin to feel sore or our old injuries start to flare up, it’s because of how we are holding onto our stress. This isn’t always the case, but tensing up due to stress is a regular contributor to reoccurring feelings of pain. This is especially true if we’ve been injured in an auto accident. We spoke with Dr. Ronald Badener, our chiropractor who works on a lien basis in West Hollywood, about meditation and the benefits it provides. Read on below for more, or watch Dr. Badener’s quick tip here:

Dr. Badener explains that meditation as a practice is over 7,000 years old. Recent studies have shown that it has been known to decrease blood pressure and provide an overall positive feeling of well-being, which likely explains why it has withstood the test of time. Thanks to its ability to provide stress relief, meditation can also potentially provide relief to some of the pains caused by tension in our body. This is especially important to know if you have been injured in an auto accident, as it can help you prevent irritating old injuries by over-stressing with the tension that stress provides.

So, Dr. Badener encourages you to find a quiet place to clear your mind, up to once a day if possible. Sometimes he listens to music and other times he doesn’t, but there are plenty of people who discuss meditation on YouTube that can guide you through the type of meditation that may be best for you. There are also plenty of meditation apps out there to assist you in your daily meditation such as the Mindfulness app if you’d prefer to try mindfulness or the Expand App if you’re looking to meditate with audio-guided technology.

All in all, meditation can be beneficial for everyone. It’s a great way to lower stress, connect with yourself, and find that sense of peace that you may need in your life. However, it can be especially helpful for those who have recently been injured, as the tension that comes with stress can help to aggravate these injuries. If you have been injured in an accident, be sure to speak with Dr. Badener in the West Hollywood area of any of our doctors that work on liens across California.
