According to the American Chiropractic Association, 80 percent of the population in the United States will experience lower back pain at some point in their life. Lower back pain is very common, as we regularly put stress on our lower back by just doing our normal daily habits as we go about our lives. We spoke with Dr. Hagop Blikian, DC, our doctor who works on a lien basis in Glendale, who provided an example of this. Follow along below, and watch Dr. Blikian’s quick tip video here:

Dr. Blikian explains that most people wake up in the morning by shooting up forward, causing tension in their lower back. According to Dr. Blikian, you can instead relieve this by rolling to your side, putting your legs down, and pulling yourself up this way. This incredibly easy tip can reduce your lower back pain and allow your back to feel better.

There are so many ways in which we put stress on our body that we aren’t even aware of. By becoming a little more mindful of our movements and putting a bit of extra thought into them, we can strategically make small changes like the abovementioned way to get out of bed. By doing it often enough, it can become a part of a routine that inevitably allows us to be healthier by regularly preventing the stress we can put on our bodies when we’re not careful.

If you’ve been feeling lower back pain (or any type of pain), especially after being injured in an accident, be sure to reach out to Dr. Hagop Blikian, DC or any of our doctors who work on a lien basis for an evaluation. And be sure to stay more mindful of how your regular movements affect your body.
