No matter where you reside in the world or what you do for a living, back injuries are incredibly common anywhere. Dr. Su explains that there are a lot of muscles that travel through the grooves of your spine, which means there are a lot of ways to pull and injure them. However, that also means that these muscles can be strengthened. A strong core is the most important way, according to Dr. Su, to help prevent back injuries. The stronger your core, the more resilient your muscles are, making them harder to injure.

Dr. Su suggested planking as a way to strengthen your core muscles and, in turn, prevent back injuries. He recommends starting with a side and forward plank for 30 seconds each day and then moving onto longer planks as your core strength builds.

If you’ve been injured in an accident or while working (or for any other reason), be sure to reach out to Dr. Peter Su, MD of Su Sports & Spine or any of our doctors who work on a lien basis today. Please note that Dr. Su does speak fluent Chinese, including Mandarin and Cantonese, so if that’s something you need and you’re in the Las Vegas area, he is an excellent choice.
